Martland Park, west of the town centre, is the borough's largest employment area, with food manufacturing, warehousing and industrial units using boilers, process burners and space heating. Wheatlea Industrial Estate in Goose Green, near junction 25 of the M6, has distribution and trade units where warm air and radiant heating are common. Westwood Park is mainly offices with their own boiler plant. For Skelmersdale and West Lancashire, the M58 runs west from the M6 at junction 26.
