Gas-fired warm air heaters are the workhorse of many Lancashire workshops, garages and warehouses. They're simple, but when one fails on a frosty Monday, staff are standing in coats. Warm air heater servicing in Lancashire keeps them safe and reliable.

SMR Gas Maintenance Ltd services cabinet and suspended warm air heaters across Preston, Lancashire and the North West. Gas Safe 562186.

What a warm air heater service covers

• Burner cleaned and ignition checked

• Flame supervision and overheat limit stat proved working

• Heat exchanger inspected for cracks and corrosion

• Flue checked for condition and correct draught

• Fan, belts and motor checked

• Air filters cleaned or replaced

• Gas pressures and combustion readings recorded

• Controls and thermostats tested

Faults we find most often

Dust and blocked filters

Workshops create dust, wood shavings and fibres. Blocked filters make heaters overheat and trip the limit stat.

Cracked heat exchangers

This is the most serious fault. A cracked heat exchanger can let combustion products into the warm air stream. Heaters with cracks must be taken out of use.

Ignition problems

Worn electrodes and dirty flame sensors cause failed starts, especially after the summer shutdown.

Flue issues

Damaged or disconnected flues on suspended heaters are common after roof work or forklift knocks.

When to service

Once a year, before the heating season. Dusty sites such as joinery shops and recycling units benefit from a mid-winter filter check.

Repair or replace?

Consider replacement when:

• The heat exchanger is cracked on an older unit

• Parts are no longer available

• The heater is oversized or undersized for the space

• Running costs are high compared with modern units

We can also advise whether radiant tube heating would suit a high-bay space better.
