Multi-Site Gas Maintenance Across Merseyside & Lancashire — One Contractor Model

Published 24 September 2026 · SMR Gas Maintenance Ltd

Group engineering leads with sites in Liverpool, Bootle, Knowsley, Preston and Blackburn often inherit a patchwork of local gas firms. Multi-site gas maintenance across Merseyside and Lancashire works better when one industrial contractor owns PPM standards, certification tracking and out-of-hours response.

Problems with fragmented contractors

One-contractor model

Use one shared asset register, unified PPM calendar, single 24/7 number 07882 898492 and consistent remedial prioritisation. Pilot two sites, standardise reporting and roll out in waves.

What a single contractor should give you

- One asset register covering every gas appliance at every site, with the same naming and numbering

- One maintenance calendar, so servicing and certification dates are visible in one place

- The same report format at each site, with combustion readings and defects recorded the same way

- One number to call for breakdowns, whichever site has the problem

- A single point of contact who knows your estate

How to move from several contractors to one

1. Gather what you have. Collect the latest certificates and service reports from every site, and list any appliances that have none.

2. Build the asset register. Walk each site with the new contractor and record every boiler, burner, heater and catering appliance.

3. Agree the standard. Decide what each visit covers, how defects are graded, and how quickly each grade is fixed.

4. Start with two sites. Run them for one service cycle, check the reports work for you, then add the rest in groups.

5. Review each year. Look at breakdowns, open defects and certificate dates across the whole estate.

What to watch for during the changeover

Existing contracts may have notice periods, so check them before you give notice. Make sure no certificate expires in the gap between the old and new contractor. Tell each site's staff who to call from the start date, and update any breakdown numbers on plant room doors and site contact sheets.
