Which certificate does your Preston site need?
It depends on the plant. CP15 is the commercial gas service and maintenance record for each appliance serviced. CP16 covers gas tightness testing and purging of the pipework on site. CP17 is the gas installation safety record for commercial and industrial sites, covering appliances such as boilers, heaters and process burners. CP42 is the commercial catering safety record, used only where an industrial site has its own staff canteen gas equipment. Most factories and warehouses on Walton Summit, Red Scar or Roman Way need a CP16 on the pipework and a CP17 covering the appliances, and we will tell you plainly which ones apply before we start.
What we check before we sign
We test the installation pipework for tightness and record the result, check the meter and emergency control valve are accessible and labelled, inspect ventilation and flues, and test each appliance's safety devices and combustion. Anything unsafe is written down and explained, with the action needed. Nothing gets signed off that does not pass.
When you need a new certificate
Annually for appliances, and again whenever pipework is altered: a new machine on the line, a meter move or an extension to a unit. Insurers, landlords of industrial units and fire risk assessors will usually ask to see the latest records, so we keep copies for contract customers and send reminders before they run out.
