Burner set-up and combustion

A badly set burner wastes gas, marks product and trips on flame failure. We check and adjust air and gas ratios across the firing range using combustion analysis, check ignition and flame detection, and record the settings so the next engineer has a baseline.

Gas trains, valves and safety

We test safety shut-off valves for leakage (BS EN 746-2 and IGEM/UP/12 for process plant), prove pressure switches, check regulators and filters, and confirm that purge and lockout sequences work as they should. After line changes or new machines, we tightness test and purge the pipework before recommissioning.

Working around production

Most Preston process lines run on shifts, so we can work at changeovers, weekends or shutdowns. Tell us your downtime window and we will plan the visit around it.

What a process burner service covers

• Burner strip, inspection and clean: combustion head, electrodes, nozzles, diffusers and refractory quarls
• Ignition system: spark igniter and gap, ignition transformer output, pilot burner where fitted, ignition sequence timing
• Flame safeguard relay and safety interlocks: trial for ignition timing and flame failure response
• Gas valves: opening and closing, proving pressure switch, valve seat leak test
• Combustion analysis and tuning of the air/fuel ratio with a calibrated flue gas analyser
• Flue gas CO levels measured and recorded
• Refractory and burner tile condition
• Supply and manifold gas pressures checked against the manufacturer's figures
• Written service report with the combustion readings
