Process furnace gas maintenance, Shepshed, Leicestershire
Process furnace gas maintenance in Shepshed, Leicestershire: a real SMR Gas job, told through our own photos from the site.
- Job type: Process furnace gas maintenance
- Location: Shepshed, Leicestershire
- Photographed: 2018 to 2025
The site
A factory in Shepshed, Leicestershire, running long gas-fired furnace lines with yellow gas pipework running the full length of the line. It is well outside our usual Lancashire patch, which says something about how specialist this kind of work is.
The work
Our photos from this site run from 2018 right through to late 2025, so this is a customer we have gone back to again and again rather than a one-off job. The pictures show the furnace line in production and, on other visits, opened right up during shutdowns with the refractory-lined channel exposed and engineers working inside. Typical gas work on a line like this covers the burners and their gas trains, safety shut-off valves, flame detection and the interlocks that stop the furnace firing unless it is safe to.
Why it matters
A furnace line like this is the heart of the plant. When it stops, production stops. Planned visits at shutdown, rather than waiting for a breakdown, are how you keep it that way.
