Tunnel oven burners and gas trains, Ilkeston, Derbyshire
Tunnel oven burners and gas trains in Ilkeston, Derbyshire: a real SMR Gas job, told through our own photos from the site.
- Job type: Tunnel oven burners and gas trains
- Location: Ilkeston, Derbyshire
- Photographed: May 2025
The site
A bakery in Ilkeston running a gas-fired tunnel oven. Product travels through the oven on a conveyor, and the heat comes from a bank of burners fed by a row of individual gas trains along the top of the oven.
The work
Our May 2025 photos show the oven on the line and the burner gas trains with their valves, pressure switches and control panel. This is classic process burner work: proving each safety shut-off valve, checking pressures against the manufacturer's figures, setting the air and gas ratio on each burner and confirming the flame safeguard and purge sequence work properly before the oven goes back into production.
Why it matters
On a multi-burner oven one badly set burner shows up in the product as uneven baking and in the gas bill as wasted fuel. Setting every burner properly gives an even bake and a safe, efficient oven.
